New Outdoor Classroom/Workspace Now Ready For Students

It’s a new shared BUILDing space with NUEVA – and it includes a green screen.

There’s a new ‘classroom’ at Windsor High School. Well, it’s kind of a room! No, it’s actually better than a traditional classroom for the planning and building and construction that will happen there. Because it’s outside!

What was once a simple patio beside a south classroom has been transformed into a new learning/teaching/working space. Yes, that’s a green screen you see in that picture because this is a classroom that can handle virtual instruction. But it’s more – it’s a large, airy workspace. This area is completely enclosed and shaded; it even has a swing gate, making it easy to bring materials in and out – things that are big, things that are dirty, things that might not fit through a standard classroom door. This is a space where students can build all the wonderful things they can imagine!

Open to the sky, the space has sails that provide shade too.
This is the view facing out toward the south parking lot.

This area is currently in use by students in the NUEVA Core and soon BUILD students will soon be working here too. Our CTE programs believe in collaboration between academies. This space will be used by both NUEVA and BUILD Academies for independent projects as well as collaborative opportunities.

The large green screen installed in the outdoor classroom will facilitate online instruction.

We are delighted that students are back at Windsor High School, on campus for 2 Core days per week. Areas like this ensure that both hybrid model students on Zoom and students in class can access the same curricula at the same time. What a great use of space! Congratulations to everyone involved in turning this project into a reality.
