BUILD students had the opportunity to learn about the early beginnings of the construction industry in Northern California at Sturgeon’s Mill Restoration Project in Sebastopol, California. This amazing 100+ year old steam powered sawmill and working museum gave students a look back in time to what daily operations of a early century sawmill would have been like. Students learned that for 50 years, from 1914 to 1964, Sturgeon’s Mill was the main supplier of lumber for Western Sonoma County and surrounding areas.
