The Rotary Club of Windsor, as part of a District 5130 Matching Grant request, will provide the basic tools and lumber for 30 Windsor High School students to complete their very first tangible project – a wooden toolbox. Due to distance learning requirements that are in place, this project is designed to be completed by each student at home. Supplies and materials will be purchased, assembled and distributed to students to take home to be used to construct their own wooden toolbox. Rotarians will be involved in the cutting of the lumber and assembling the tool kit for each student.
The tools purchased through this grant will be the property of Windsor High School on loan to the students while they are in the program. The tools will be returned at the end of the semester to assure the sustainability of the Build Academy program. Students will be instructed, tested and graded on fundamentals regarding the care, use and storage of these and other tools used in the program.
